New SDa report on antibiotic use in Dutch livestock farming
The Netherlands Veterinary Medicines Institute (SDa) has published its latest report, Usage of Antibiotics in Livestock in the Netherlands in 2025: Trends and Benchmarking of Livestock Farms and Veterinarians.
The report presents an overview of antibiotic use in Dutch livestock farming during 2025. It covers the main livestock sectors and describes developments in antibiotic use over time. In addition, the report provides benchmarking information for livestock farmers and veterinarians, supporting the identification of farms and prescribing patterns that require further attention.
By monitoring antibiotic use and comparing individual results with sector-specific benchmarks, the SDa aims to support responsible antibiotic use and contribute to the continued reduction of antimicrobial resistance risks.
The report includes the cover letter from the SDa board and is accompanied by an online appendix containing additional tables and figures.
