FAQ

Care and losses (mortality) among young animals is a common theme in social discussions about livestock farming. To improve the animal welfare and health and consequently lowering the losses (mortality), is a continuous point of attention for the farmer. To help the farmer, the SDa has been asked bij the dairy cattle, pig and dairy goat sector to develop an independent monitoring and benchmark system for the care of young animals. The Dutch ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality supports this.

The project is planned to take three years with multiple go and no go-moments.

At this time the dairy cattle, pig and dairy goat sectors are participating.

At this time no other sectors are involved directly. When specific issues or questions arise, other sectors will be approached.

Benchmarking is the process of measuring an organization's internal processes then identifying, understanding, and adapting outstanding practices from other organizations considered to be best-in-class.
